Back to the Middle

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. Attribute it to laziness, which seems to be prevalent in my life these days. We went to see Dr. Fields Monday morning and got a good report. No ultrasound this time, but they did check the baby's heartbeat, which is still strong. It's down to 143-152, which is still in normal limits. I say "down" because it had been around 180, which, according to the old wives tale, is indicative of a girl. Now we are right back in the middle, worried we've been calling our boy a "she" for the past month! We'll get the official word, assuming the baby cooperates, on December 17 at our 20 week visit.

The best part of the visit, for me, was hearing the baby. It took a little while to find the heartbeat, but I was never worried, because we could actually hear him/her kick at the little doppler wand! Steve is always telling me to stop poking at the baby (I call them love pats), so maybe he's right. I don't think the baby likes being disturbed! Hopefully I will be able to feel him/her in the next few weeks. I'm a still a bit early for that, though.

As for me, I am fine. Dr. Fields was not concerned about my eating (or lack thereof) because I have been maintaining my weight. No weight gain yet! He says the baby will take what it needs and my body will take the rest. He also - thankfully - took me off of my blood pressure meds. I am going to monitor it at home and go back on the meds if there are significant changes. But he is satisfied, at the moment, that I don't need it. An answer to a prayer!

Thanks for all of the thoughts and calls. They are still very much needed!
