Strawberry Festival 2010

Last weekend we enjoyed a trip to West Tennessee. It was quick, but we certainly made the most of it! We went home for the Strawberry Festival and to visit family. We packed a lot into 2 days, as I am sure you can see. Samantha had a great time. She always likes being with her Big Guy and Grammy, and has asked every day since we've been home when she gets to go back!

Getting a close up view of some of the floats before the start of the parade.

Showing Big Guy her teeth ... this is about the only way we can get her to smile for the camera these days!

Giving the Berry a high-five.

Riding in the parade with Big Guy and Grammy. Mom said she had a ball and actually waved to people!

No fear ... petting Amos, the 175 pound St. Bernard.

With Janiece, our wonderful hostess. Janiece has a beautiful home right on Main Street, a perfect spot to watch the parade.

Samantha, Daddy, and her new Dora doll.

Admiring Big Guy and Grammy's azalea.

Hanging out on the porch, probably waiting for Grammy to blow more bubbles.

Enjoying some memory-building time with her Memaw.

Riding a choo-choo with Grammy.

Helping Gran open her Mother's Day present.

Having a great time with her Grammy! I think Grammy was having a pretty good time, too.

Painting the Birdfeeder

In case you didn't know, Samantha adores her Uncle Johnny. Absolutely adores him! Well, Uncle Johnny hit a home run for her birthday when he gave her a bird feeder that she could paint her very-own-self! We had Wawa, Papaw and Uncle Johnny over to join in the festivities. Much to my surprise, the bird feeder did not turn out a lovely shade of gray. Samantha did a pretty good job of not mixing the colors and letting us clean her brush. As Uncle Johnny told her, birds are going to come from miles around once word gets out how great the bird feeder looks!

Samantha's makeshift smock.

Getting a little help from Mommy, while Uncle Johnny looks on.

Always the center of attention!

Mastering the brush stroke. She seemed to be really fond of the blue paint.

The beautiful finished product!
