Our weekend in West Tennessee

Hi blogland! Get ready for a picture overload ... We've had a pretty uneventful March, thus no blog updates. That it, we had an uneventful March until Samantha and I headed to West Tennessee for a nice, long weekend visit. Samantha had a ball!! We got to spend time with everyone we went to see, and we didn't have to be in a big rush to do it.

We drove in on a Thursday afternoon. First stop, of course, Gran and Grandaddy's. Gran cooked a fabulous meal to celebrate Mom and Dad's anniversary. It was a beautiful day, so we spent time outdoors before we went in for our big dinner.

Raking leaves with Gran and Grandaddy, with her very own rake!
On Friday morning, we went back to Gran and Grandaddy's to play. Then we had a special treat ... Big Guy and Grammy took the afternoon off, and we went and had lunch and milkshakes at Gibson Economy Grocery. It was my one meal request, and I think Mom and Dad were all to happy to oblige. They have the best burger around!

Her first Kit Kat of the weekend ... the first of several!

Giving Gran a chocolate-y thank you kiss.

More yard work. I sure hope Samantha is this excited about yard work once we get home!

Saturday Big Guy went with us to spend a special day at Memaws. It was another beautiful day, so we ventured out for lunch. We even went out to play in her courtyard. Samantha absolutely loves the birds. This time, she also discovered lots of rocks. She is very curious, so it doesn't take much to fascinate her these days!

Rollin' with Memaw, one of her favorite things to do.

Back at Big Guy and Grammy's, playing in the back yard.
We got another special treat Sunday. Despite a week out of town for Russ, and food poisoning several days before for Amy, they made a trip to Humboldt so the kids could play together. Samantha and Anna Grace seem to be playing together a little bit more, though Garner-man is still doing his own thing. Really, who can blame him?

At least everyone is looking!

On Monday we travelled to Lexington for another great home-cooked country meal at Aunt Teddie's house. More importantly, Samantha got to play with Precious, Aunt Teddie's chihuahua. After a couple of very minor incidents at Christmas, I was worried about how Samantha would react to Precious. We had a plan in place to temporarily banish Precious to the garage if Samantha was still apprehensive. Not too long after we got there, I'm sure Precious would have begged to go to the garage if she had been able to talk!!
Warming up with a little help from Gran.

I think they took turns being "it."

No trip to Aunt Teddie's is complete without at little karaoke. This time, we worked on Sweet Home Alabama.

Back at Big Guy and Grammy's, checking out the ducks on the lake.
On Tuesday, we packed up to head home. We made our traditional stop at Gran and Grandaddy's. We played, had a bite to eat, and then hit the road around naptime. Samantha did great for me on the way back, but she sure was happy to see her Daddy!
